The basic architecture adopts a coaxial layout to maximize the C.I.S. Structure, which supports the center conductor at a point rather than a surface to minimize mutual interference between the center conductor and the outside.
The internal air damper layout was conceived with a completely different idea in mind. The conventional approach to vibration is to damp internally generated vibration by compounding, but the ACROSS 900 V2 does not absorb and damp vibration. The "ACROSS 900 V2" approach is based on the idea of releasing vibration, rather than absorbing and damping it.
The C.I.S. structure not only has an excellent stabilizing effect, but also contributes greatly to the improvement of electrical characteristics. The C.I.S. structure is made of polyolefin, which has an extremely low dielectric constant (1/4 that of PVC).These unique structures and materials give the ACROSS 900 V2 an unrivaled agile response and stress-free spatial expression.
The exterior sheath is a traditional Oyaide Electric halogen-free sheath specially designed for audio, and the Beluga color (caviar black) was chosen for its elegant and refined finish. The C.I.S construction and the precision conductor 102SSC complete the foundation for an agile and dynamic performance. We cut and tested all available XLR connectors on the market today and selected the best Switchcraft Silver Braid type to maximize the potential of the "ACROSS 900 V2".
Plugs and cables are soldered with "SS-47", a lead-free silver solder specially designed for acoustic use. Ordinary solder has a tin purity of about 99.9% (3N) due to cost considerations." SS-47" is made of high-purity tin that is 99.993% (4N) or higher, eliminating impurities to the utmost limit. In addition, silver and copper are added to improve conductivity and prevent solder from being eaten away.
Furthermore, the ratio of silver in a normal alloy solder is 3 to 3.5%, but in "SS-47" a whopping 4.7% is used without hesitation. In addition, SS-47 contains 1.7% copper, which has the second highest conductivity among metals after silver. This ratio dramatically improves the conductivity, and we succeeded in setting the eutectic point at 217 degrees Celsius. Of course, these blending ratios were not determined by numerical data and workability alone.
We believe that sound quality should be the top priority for a product to be labeled as an audio solder. SS-47" is the result of numerous listening tests of prototype models with various mixing ratios.
