Among the OCB-1 series, the "OCB-1 SX," which was introduced in 2008 with the concept of natural sound, became the new standard for power strips with its overwhelming performance.
However, in 2013, the supply of PCOCC-A conductors was discontinued, and the "BLACK MAMBA" direct-feed cable was exhausted. As a result, the production of "OCB-1 SX" was discontinued.
However, in 2014, the "OCB-1 SX V2" was born with the precision conductor "102SSC". The structure of the OCB-1 SX V2 is the same as that of the first generation model. The "OCB-1 SX V2" has the same structure as the first generation model, but it uses the "BLACK MAMBA V2" with the precision conductor "102SSC" for the direct output cable.
The cable section uses Oyaide's latest power transmission technology, "BlackMamba V2". It provides high power transmission of up to 20 amps at 600V and an aggressive response. Short pitch stranded wire twisted at 1.15 times the normal tension eliminates random gaps in the conductor and suppresses sound quality degradation caused by inter-wire distortion.
We also paid close attention to the adhesion rate between the insulator and conductor. The insulator and conductor are evenly adhered to each other, eliminating random gaps and degradation of sound quality caused by interline distortion. Polymer polyolefin with excellent electrical properties is used for the insulation coating of the conductor. Compared to ordinary PVC insulation, it has an extremely low dielectric constant of 1/4, which reduces signal loss and produces a less muddy reproduction sound.
In addition, flex PE yarn designed specifically for BLACK MAMBA V2 is used for the internal interconnection, and the conductor is 20A 3.5sq for clear and powerful sound. The insulator is made of high polymer polyolefin, and the inner interconnection is made of low dielectric constant Flex PE, geometrically arranged to dampen unwanted vibrations.
The outer sheath is an audio-specific halogen-free sheath with unparalleled vibration control and electrical properties. The cable exterior is covered with a PET mesh sleeve (black) to enhance vibration damping.
OCB-1 SX was produced based on the concept of opening the door to a new generation. So, we decided to change the power cable from traditional "L/I 50" to the brand-new "BLACK MAMBA" power cable.
BLACK MAMBA is the new product of NEO series which is alternative brand of Oyaide established for sound professionals such as sound engineers, musicians and Live Pas. To meet the high requirements of them, we employed materials which have simple and neutral sound characteristics.
The BLACK MAMBA power cable satisfies the requirements of high performance and safety. The PCOCC-A conductor is 20A 3.5sq that actualizes high power transmission. The halogen-free outer sheath was specially developed for audio application. Furthermore, a copper foil shielding layer is installed for perfect noise protection.
The power plug is equipped with P/C-029 SPECIAL EDITION (mirror buffed electrodes). The outlet is equipped with a SWO-NT SPECIAL EDITION (mirror buffed electrodes).
The electrodes of the outlet/plug are free of plating to embody the original sound of the material. The electrodes of the outlet/plug are barrel polished and then buffed one by one by hand by craftsmen for a mirror finish.
The Oyaide AC distribution box is the heart of the sound. The enclosure is made of PBT-GF30, a highly rigid engineering plastic material made of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and 30% glass fiber (GF). PBT resin is a polyester resin obtained by polycondensation of terephthalic acid (TPA) and 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BG). PBT resin is a polyester resin obtained by polycondensation of terephthalic acid (TPA) and 1,4-butanediol (1,4-BG), and is a crystalline engineering plastic with excellent mold ability, electrical properties, flame resistance, chemical resistance, heat aging resistance, weather resistance, and color ability.
This material is reinforced with glass fiber (GF). As a result, the tensile strength and Charpy impact strength are more than twice as high as usual, and the DTUL (Deflection Temperature Under Load) is more than three times as high as 200°C, compared to 50-85°C without GF, giving it an advantage in dimensional stability at high temperatures. This high rigidity suppresses unwanted squeaking of the outlet box, which can cause blurring and smearing of sound.
The structure is a mono-coque structure, and four posts are raised from the bottom to fix the outlet, directly transmitting the vibration to the bottom of the chassis. The thickness of the body is 4mm, which is 1.4 times thicker than general-purpose PVC products (PVC 2.8mm thick). In addition, carbon is added to the material to minimize EMI, and the 13mm diameter feet on the bottom of the chassis reduce the contact area between the floor and the main unit to minimize resonance.
These combined elements of material and structure help to reduce distortion and achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio, which are the characteristics of the OCB-1 series.
