The Oyaide Elec, "OR-800" speaker cable composed of high-purity copper litz wire and star-quad structure, is one of the pioneers of high-end speaker cable and has been popular for decades. In 2004, it remodeled to "OR-800 Advance". Equipped with the original Y-terminals, it improved ability to portray music scale emotionally and sensitively.
And finally in 2008, the long-awaited banana plug version, "OR-800B", is produced to answer many customers' demands.
So far, a banana plug is known as inferior to spade plug in sound quality due to its low adhesiveness despite of its user-friendliness. So, we aimed at producing the high-quality banana plug, with maintaining both high sound quality and usability.
As a result, "SRBN" banana plug was created in 2008.
The original banana plug of "OR-800B" is designed based on "SRBN" in order to accept very thick conductors of OR-800.
Same as the "SRBN", it is made of deoxidized phosphor bronze which is used in many contacts due to its excellent springiness and electric property.
The contact tip is slit up in a cross shape and divided in quarters to ensure the maximum contact area and is designed to be fit tightly into terminals when it is inserted.
The size was determined based on WBT's speaker terminals, but it can be fit in any terminals. After more than ten times of repeated cut and try, SRBN was exquisitely-designed to be inserted smoothly and not to be come off easily.
For the conductor, almost four hundreds of very thin wires made of OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) is installed in star-quad structure. Its litz wire structure prevents deformation among the wires because of enamel coating (UEW) on the surface and prevents loss of high-frequency characteristic by skin effect.
The original banana plug and the conductor of the cable is soldered by high-quality Pb free solder which was selected based on our years of experience. It has well-balanced sound quality and achieves to get rid of the turbidity of the sound by soldering to the maximum.
We employed polyolefin for outer sheath to keep electric permittivity low. Its hardness is set to higher than PVC to enhance durability and achieve high-definition sound.
The star-quad structure, which has been trusted for 20 years, blocks external noise and electromagnetic wave without increasing electric capacitance due to its noise cancellation effect.
