The rebirth of the legendary "LC-OFC Quantum".
INTRODUCTION
LC-OFC, Linear Crystal Oxygen-Free Copper, is a high-quality conducting material which was originally produced by Hitachi Cable in the middle of 1980' s. Following that, "LC-OFC Quantum" was produced by applying Class 1 OFC for the material.
Even though the production of the "LC-OFC Quantum" was terminated in the beginning of the 21st century despite of its popularity, many audio enthusiasts who is attracted by its sensitive and hi-speed sound response have awaited the reproduction of LC-OFC Quantum.
By answering many customers' requests, we at Oyaide Electric decided to order the reproduction of the "LC-OFC Quantum" to Hitachi Cable.
In the autumn of 2008, as the QAC-212R, the collaboration between Oyaide Electric and Hitachi Cable provides you the everlasting "Quantum sound".
FEATURES
LC-OFC Conductor
LC-OFC Quantum is a material produced by linearly crystallizing Class 1 OFC. By removing crystal grain boundary composed of mainly hydrogen gas, it achieved high-degree of purity (99.995%) and low oxygen content (less than 10ppm). It is originally developed by HITACHI cable and it used to be applied to QAX-112 interconnect which had been kept sold more than decade. Although it has been discontinued because of closure of Hitachi cable from pure audio line, we at Oyaide offered to reproduce legendary LC-OFC Quantum by answering many customers' requests in 2008.
Structure
The triple-layered inverted concentric structure is employed for maximum density, for uniformity of wire structure and for infilling of internal space and for preventing deformation among the wires.
Insulator
In order to transmit signal without any loss and maintain good sound quality, it is necessary for considering selection of insulation material. For QAC-212R, the low-dielectric PE was employed for its electrical property that keeps cable capacitance low and provides excellent high-frequency characteristic.
High density shielding
AS well as the conductor, LC-OFC Quantum is applied for the shielding material in order to protect sensitive audio signal. The high density (over 90% coverage) braided shielding protects its conductor from the external noise.
Inner & Outer sheath
We employed LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene) for the inner sheath which covers insulator. The outer sheath is made of RoHS compliant Pb free PVC. The "Forest Green" color expresses the deep and emotional sound character of LC-OFC Quantum.
The RCA connector
The connector of QAC-212R is our original RCA plugs, same as ACROSS 750RR, which is made of RoHS compliant brass and utilizes the nanotube structure for the center pin to provide maximum contact area. The contacts are plated with 0.5 micron thick Rhodium.
The outer shell is processed by NC machining piece by piece. And then, after knurling process, the surface is plated by hard chrome like a body of a camera.
All processes including procurement of materials and accurate machining are done in Japan. This brings out the greatness of the "Quantum sound".
